Spring has sprung,
The grass is riz,
I wonder where
The flowers is?
My mom always recited this little ditty to us near the beginning of springtime each year, and this year the season really did spring upon me. Just a few days ago I was bundled up in the house (yes, in the house - it's a veritable ice box), cursing the sky as it bestowed the biggest, fattest snowflakes I'd ever seen. Today I went on a walk in capris and a t-shirt. And I kept asking myself, "When did the grass get green?"
This change in season always makes me a little nervous, for reasons I can't quite pinpoint: maybe it's knowing that the wardrobe will have to change with it - and just when I was getting comfortable with the same five shirts. Maybe it's the realization that my life is hurtling along almost without me, getting faster and faster by the day. Maybe it's the onset of swimsuit season...
I think the anxiety is more pronounced this year since our lives are poised on the brink of a dozen different dreams. But springtime is inherently hopeful, and I'm optimistic about what's budding. I just wish my allergies were so cheerful.

it was so sunny yesterday that we literally spent the whole day outside, and as a result i have been sunburned!
Lives poised on the brink of dreams. . . I think your next post should list the dozen. Does Matt graduate this month? What's going on?
As all you Utahans are celebrating the arrival of spring, I'm busting out my last 6 weeks of comfortable Alabama weather. I went bike riding in January - I'll be hiding inside in June. Aargh to humidity!!!
Hooray for spring! And I think you deserve some anxiety, graduation is a big move. As for swimsuit season, you're looking great and have nothing to worry about I am sure.
At least you don't have to wear that polka dot unitard thing you talk about in your bio.
It was so gorgeous we went to the zoo today. Apparently every living soul east of the Rockies had the same idea, because I have never seen it so crowded...but we came home sunburned and tired and happy.
Can't wait to see you and steal that baby this weekend.
I was taught that little jingle too. I love spring, for many reasons, but I want to say, I loved your writing, you are really talented girl!
I love spring, too. Armed with your kind of optimism, I left my gloves and jacket at home when I left today, then battled 25 mph winds and blizzard conditions riding my bike from campus into downtown in only my spare jacket that I keep at work. My temper has riz. I wonder where the warmth now is?
Hey, Brittany and Matt!
I found a link to your blog on Angie's blog and wanted to see what you guys were up to. (Although we should really just get together, considering we're both in Provo!) You guys are so much fun, and I love the stories and pictures of cute Truman!
We've got gorgeous weather, too--sadly, Addie has a fever and it's not the spring kind. I'm hoping we get out to enjoy the Ohio spring soon before it's too late.
