Curious

I've decided that watching Curious George stresses me out. For starters, George is always getting confused about things, making a mess, forgetting – all of which are painful realities in my own life that I am trying to avoid and/or keep a lid on. Today he was babysitting a kitten. A monkey babysitting a kitten? Stressful.

Secondly, what is with the Man in the Yellow Hat? Does it bother anyone else that a grown, nameless man insists on being clothed entirely in yellow and that his closest friend in the world is his pet monkey? (Don't you need a special permit to even own an exotic pet like a monkey?) And what kind of job does the Man have that lets him dig for and assemble dinosaur bones, explore Antarctica, and travel in space? And WHY does he leave George alone, ever?

These are the burning questions, folks.

In other news, a few things I'm grateful for lately: 1) Our computer died last week and then miraculously resurrected. Hallelujah! 2) Working kitchen lights. We do not have these at the moment as our fluorescent bulbs are burned out, but I am grateful for the days when they did function (and anxiously anticipate the return of those days). 3) One adorable baby boy. Look at this face:

I am in love.

Your questions are too true, Brittany.

I agree with your assesment of Curious George. I live with two 4 year old George's and I would never let them babysit a kitten nor would I EVER leave the alone for more than five seconds! Someone ought to send the Man in the Yellow Hat to a parenting class.

Your little boy is as adorable as his name!

I never knew I felt like that towards Curious George, but you helped me realize my true feelings, Brittany. Truman just might be the cutest little guy ever.

I dont know about CG, but Truman IS adorable.

I'm with Sonja on this—I've got to disagree with you about George, Brittany. The crazy mistakes are some of the most memorable times, and I'm considering retiring as the man with the yellow hat. Space, dinosaurs, penguins? Sign me up.
Truman is cute. I do agree with that.

When I watched the movie I remember thinking....um I'm pretty sure you can't just take a monkey from the jungle to new york city. There has to be all kinds of permits involved. And the other question I have for george is...."can you teach me how to float away holding a bunch of balloons? I would really like to do that!"

I love reading your blog! If you want to hear about my adventures at college, you should check out my blog, and leave some comments! Your kid is awesome, by the way.

looks like you birthed a Curious George of your own...

My favorite line from the PBS cartoon:
Well, George, you're young and you are a monkey, but you need to learn to be curious about important things.

I was reading the first paragraph out loud, and Seth pointed at Truman's picture and asked, "Is that the monkey?"

The best thing about Curious George is the theme song "when you're curious...likea Curious George" After reading your blog it will now be stuck in my head for the next 3 days!
Truman is too sweet!

You are funny, your kid is cute, and curious george's guardian is definitely curious.

I feel the same way about Inspector Gadget. Even as a child, I was frustrated by his bumbling detective work. Perhaps the George needs a Penny or a Brain to assist him.
