Slow

Every once in a while I get a word or phrase stuck in my head the same way that other people get a song stuck in theirs. For at least a month in seventh grade, it was "Mesopotamia." Last year it was favorite lines from the movie Steel Magnolias that would wake me in the night. All day today, I've been plagued by the term "eye-pokingly slow."

Things in my life that are currently eye-pokingly slow:

Our internet connection. I have no idea why. I guess it's having a lazy day, just sauntering along and casually flicking pages my way at its leisure. "Oh I'm sorry, did you mean you needed directions to that place now?"

My baby's second tooth. It's hovering just beneath the surface and wreaking havoc on all of our lives.

Packs of roommates shopping at our local Wal-Mart. Make that "most people shopping at our local Wal-Mart." I swear they look at me, see that I'm in a hurry, and purposely block the aisle.

My sluggish brain. I am so tired right now that I can hardly keep my eyes open. Maybe because my baby gets up at an hour that can only be described as mind-numbingly early...

Someday you may be like me and wonder how the eye-pokingly slow times with a young baby went by so quickly. They grow up too fast and I need to see that Truman again!

Brittany, all it takes is another kid or two and suddenly no matter how slow you go, life is in fast forward.

Sorry about the tooth...hope you get some sleep soon! You're a great mom!

What's crazy is I get words stuck in my head, too. Just yesterday I couldn't stop thinking about "external occipital protuberance".

Oh, he's 'sleeping through the night'...it's just that 'nighttime' ends no later than 6 am for him.

"mind numbingly early"

And thus we see that Brittany doth findeth her phrase for the coming week...

6:00? Oh, please. Try having a husband that wakes up at 4:15 every day for weeks at a time FOR WORK, who then is tired and cranky by 7 at night, and begs you to go to bed at 9:00. THAT, my friend, is the true tragedy. Sigh.

I sometimes wish that things could move a little more slowly in my life--except the end of school! Thanks for your sweet comments on my blog! I think the world of you and Matt!

I like that one. Lovely and descriptive. The phrase I'm obsessed with right now is "mad, passionate love." Like, I think my purse is awesome, so I say, "I'm in mad, passionate love with this purse." It's a little comforting to know that you do it as well. Though, yours may make more sense.
