It seems like a good day for getting skeletons out of the closet, so here's one of mine: I can't seem to get enough junk into my diet. And despite the ever-increasing volume of the voice inside my head that says I should know better ("You graduated in FITNESS for crying out loud!"), and the ever-sickening feeling in my stomach, I just keep downing the treats.
It doesn't help that I baked some not-so-nasty sugar cookies yesterday, in honor of Halloween of course. (Hey, I don't have any decorations up, I didn't wear a costume - I had to do something.)
And it's not my fault that my friend Alicia brought over some de-licious cookies of her own last night, complete with tasty, colored frosting and candy faces.
I could blame the burned-out porch light which prevented many trick-or-treaters from begging at my door and left me with two full bags of candy, or - I know! - the grocery store for selling goodies in those big, irresistible bins at the front.
The truth is, my willpower goes from Some to None in two seconds flat when high-fructose corn syrup is involved.
It does feel good, at least, to get it off my chest like this - a confession of sorts. The first step is admitting the problem, right?
And so begins the newest in a long line of failed fitness regimens - this one called Operation: Be More Like Bryanna - which I am going to start...uh, tomorrow.
In the meantime, somebody hand me a Snickers.

For those who don't know, Bryanna is my very fit sister-in-law. She could give Jack LaLanne a run for his money.
And if you don't know who Jack LaLanne is, then you need him even more than I do.
See, if you'd just wait a couple years, you are smooth sailing into the "I bought this for the kids cause they love it" phase...
Dang that Truman and his infant no teethness...
You'll be happy to know (Bryanna just informed me) that there's no high fructose corn syrup in Snickers--just corn syrup. Happy munching. We got a huge bag of costco chocolate candy bars, and I sifted out all the peanut m&ms and snickers, which I consider too good for trick or treaters. I'll have to remember the porch light scheme next year.
Perhaps we could start a support group. For me it's salty snacks. Direct quote from Nate "I don't think it's healthy to eat a whole bag at once, even if it is considered dinner". You're not alone.
I have recently tried to give up goodies but not eating goodies makes me feel more irritable, so I eat candy for my wife's sake :)
I would, but I ate them all.
Have you ever considered being a columnist for a newspaper? Seriously! You crack me up, and it makes me miss our scouting days! If it's any help, my sister-in-law takes chromium to help curb her diet, and I tried it, and it seemed to work. You can get it at the health food store. I don't know if it's safe for breastfeeding, if that's on your docket right now :)
Brittany, you need to try my one-dessert-a-day diet. It's simple, you just limit your sweets to one a day. I personally have stuck to it for one or two days in the last 6 years (since I started having kids). I think I may have something marketable here, but since I can't stick to it, I don't know for sure if it works.
I so know how you feel. I am the same way...especially pregnant! Just can't get enough. Good luck with the new plan!
I'm in your exact same boat, Brittany, I wish I had a solution for you.
I feel your pain... or rather... lack thereof when devouring scrumptious morsels of fatty and sugary food... ah, how I love it all!
I have an idea, coming to a blog near yousoon!
I have a solution:
You could mail any extra this way! I'll take care of 'em.
Well I would never have guessed this was a problem with you-your such a stinkin skinny mom!!
I have a really great plan that works every time. Every time I eat some sweets I say to myself "It is a good thing I am going to exercise today". And then whether or not I do exercise, I felt good eating my sweets.
