Pests

I really need to get a "No Soliciting" sign, because I have zero willpower to say no to smiling, sweating college students when they show up on my doorstep sweetly selling unnecessary items and services. Case in point: I bought a year's worth of pest control visits on Saturday, and within minutes of Starving Student's departure I was having buyer's remorse. But I'd just signed a contract, so I smiled at the bug man (pest control technician) when he showed up this morning, then spent the afternoon feeling guilty not only for spending the money but also for killing the bugs! Someone tell me I did the right thing!

Man, if it were me, I'd be praising myself for eliminating spiders and other unwanted guests that I don't want to have to deal with myself. I say, pat yourself on the back.

you did the right thing. wish I could convince my husband to let us get a pest control contract. I cringe at spiders and bugs that are living around our house. His solution (at least he made an effort to assuage my concerns) was to put up spider paper traps in the bathrooms to try and catch spiders as they crawl around. that makes me feel really great about it. :)

You did the right thing! I hate spider more than almost anything in the world. Not having them in the house is worth any price!

I'm like you, I'm a sucker for buying things from door to door salesmen. I've got to put up a no soliciting sign.

Yeah.. I'm wishing I had pest control right now. It's the time you need it! When it starts to get cold they all go inside the house! Kill them now!

Yes, it was the right thing. I hear you though. Shortly after we bought our house we fell for some water softner seller trick. Luckily, we didn't buy the softener, but we did have to sit through a two hour presentation and then continue to be firm. And do not under any circumstance let a Kirby vaccum salesman through your door. I've heard (I don't know if it is true) that they can sell a vaccum to like 80 percent of the people who let them in.

well at least you got something good....i got suckered into a dominos pizza discount card. It does have good deals like buy one medium pizza and get a second pizza free or a cheesey bread free. But wait...when do I ever order pizza from Dominos....and even if I do when would I ever eat 2 entire pizzas? But who can say no to the 50-something year old dad of a local cheerleader...not me. And DEATH TO ALL BUGS!!!

Get the sign, but in case a Kirby guy comes along, follow Sonja's advice. And remember, they can be sneaky!! They won't tell you they are from Kirby, they will just say they want to clean one of the floors in your house for FREE!! It's a ruse, don't let them in! ... unless you want to spend a day with them, and end up buying a very expensive appliance!!

That's my girl... The one who caught the spider in our dorm room only to let it outside (and it was a nasty, hairy thing too), and the one who signed up for a semester's worth of newspapers that remained in our front room (unread) for the year. I'm not complaining. You're so good. Spiders eat other pesty bugs. And we recycled the papers anyway (by over-filling the recycle bins at the Tanner Building). I love you, Bo. :)

You DID do the right thing... my husband does this!! It's his full-time job. It's better than having your child walking around and saying "BUG! HI BUG!" Then proceed to pick it up. What if that were a scorpion! Bugs are no bueno.

Anyway...come say hi to me! You never do :P
